Rift Sawn Oak Flooring
Rift Sawn is a highly unusual cut of oak logs that enables the grain to be very straight and with minimal if any medullary rays or flecking. The timber is cut between at 45 degree to the log and thus has the most wastage of all the cuts. Rift sawn oak is the most stable of all floors as there is minimal shrinkage caused by changes in humidity and seasonal changes. The cut provides a prime grade and very linear pattern to the grain. Due to the highly unique cut we have to purchase entire logs for the project and thus is suitable for large high end projects. Widths available are generally up to 150mm wide on engineered boards or as a solid overlay floor.
