Premier Reclaimed Oak Cortona

About Our Reclaimed Barn Oak Planks Cortona Oiled & Wax Polished Hand Bevelled Wood Flooring

Reclaimed Oak from old barns and warehouses typically well over 200 years old giving a highly unique look that is truly genuine. Our old oak floors are expertly finished with hand made bevels, brushed and air dried impregnating oils and then carefully polished with beeswax.

Our Premier Reclaimed Oak is the ultimate in reclaimed oak floors. Product features include:

  1. Finest Quality Reclaimed Oak Sourced from Old Structures: Reclaimed oak beams that are at least 200 years old, sourced from old barns, warehouses, and buildings. The fact that the oak comes from slow-growing trees adds to the wood's hardness and stability. This historical and quality aspect sets apart reclaimed oak from new oak floors that use wood grown quickly for harvest.

  2. Engineered Wood Construction: The oak beams are processed into lamellas and bonded to high-quality Birch ply as a counterbalance layer. This engineered construction not only ensures durability but also makes the wood floor compatible with modern underfloor heating systems, catering to the practical needs of contemporary construction.

  3. Preservation of Character: The insides of the old beams retain character marks such as nail holes, joints, splits in the timber, and worm holes. This highlights the authenticity and history of the wood during the manufacturing process the timber is treated to remove any insects, addressing a common concern.

  4. Handcrafted Beveled Edges: Hand-working each plank to create beveled edges adds an artisanal touch and soft, rounded edges that enhance the overall visual appeal of the flooring.

  5. Natural Impregnating Oil Finish: The use of a natural impregnating oil for finishing, distinct from Hard Waxoil, emphasises a deep-penetrating and protective finish. This not only protects the wood but also highlights its natural beauty.

  6. Beeswax Finish: The final step involves careful buffing with a beeswax finish, enhancing authenticity and creating a soft, polished texture that showcases the old oak's patina, adding to its unique charm.
